The CT Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office (CTDOT) and the Colchester Fire and EMS, initiated a statewide educational program to advance the “Slow Down, Move Over” initiative. As part of the program, the Colchester Fire and EMS mounted a Scorpion device on a truck to serve as a physical safety barrier for roadside operations.
Connecticut DOT formed a roundabout committee of professionals trained on evaluating the planning, design, and construction of roundabouts on municipal and state roads.
TETC Multi-State Bridge Hit Mitigation Media and Strategy Campaign

Several states and D.C. created a regional “bridge hit” media campaign targeted at drivers hitting low clearance bridges and restricted parkways. The campaign received significant engagement and media coverage.
CTDOT uses several strategies to combat wrong-way driving, including behavioral countermeasures, a public awareness campaign, traffic signals, signs, pavement markings, and delineators.
When fatal crash toxicology data showed an increase of cannabis by drivers, CTDOT worked with CTHSO, GHSA, and other partners to raise awareness of the dangers of driving impaired.
