Rapid growth along FM 1488, a four-lane roadway with a continuous two-way left-turn lane, resulted in increased traffic congestion, crashes, and safety concerns. TxDOT conducted an access management study to identify short, medium, and long-term improvements. The goal of the study was to reduce crashes and improve mobility by limiting conflict points and better planning how vehicles move through a corridor. Improvements recommended in the study would also lead to better multimodal connectivity.
